What is Micropigmentaton and why it’s different to a tattoo

Permanent makeup (PMU) or micropigmentation is the method of depositing pigments into the border between the epidermis and dermis of the skin. With an ultra-thin needle and pigment, the shape of the eyebrows, eyes or lips is enhanced. Micropigmentation penetrates the skin to a depth of only 0.08 mm to 1 mm, two layers deep, the upper layer of the dermis. And tattoo penetrates the skin to a depth of 2mm and reaches five layers of your skin. This treatment is also known as permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing. It is often wrongly confused with cosmetic tattoos (e.g. eyebrow or eyeliner tattoos). However, the pigments used for permanent makeup are introduced less deeply into the skin layer and have a different composition from tattoo inks. Micropigmentation devices are also more refined than tattoo machines, and the techniques that are used are different. Natural, soft or intense: are all possible with micropigmentation, no matter the skin type. Micropigmentation is performed with a refined digital device. The pigment penetrates the skin efficiently, which makes the pigment last longer. Specialized needle formations can create crisp, natural hair strokes for an amazing result.

  • Micropigmentation eyebrow procedures range from individual hair strokes for a very natural look to a shaded powder effect.

  • Natural lips can get more defined with a basic lip liner whereas full pigmentation gives the lips a luscious 3D effect.

WHAT IS EYEBROW MICROBLADING?

Microblading originated in Asia and is also known as brow embroidery. It is considered to be semi- permanent procedure. It is a fantastic treatment for anyone looking to improve or enhance the appearance of their eyebrows.

I create hair strokes with a hand held disposable sterile very fine blade to deposit pigments into dermis. Putting the finest hairs back into eyebrows with pigment to provide the finest definition and dimension possible. Controlling the shape and symmetry of the brows better than ever before. For the most understated, natural looking, completely corrective enhancement to your brows.

WHO IS PERMANENT MAKEUP SUITABLE FOR ?

This amazing brow service suits people who ideally have the wrong brow shape, over plucked, loss of hair/patchy areas that won't grow back. Microblading is done using a very fine disposable blade to deposit pigments into the dermis. More superficial than tattooing and impacting colour closer to the top skin surface strokes appear and remain crisp and extremely fine natural looking hair strokes.

The initial procedure takes around 2 hours and can last up to 18 months depending on skin type. Regular touch-up's are recommended.

People suffering from alopecia, chemotherapy or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from Permanent make up, as well as people who simply are not happy with their eyebrow shape. Microblading may not be a suitable procedure if your skin produces a high amount of natural oils.

WHO IS  NOT IDEAL FOR THIS PROCEDURE?

  • Someone with large pores on their forehead.

  • Someone with very dark existing permanent makeup.

  • Someone with severely oily skin ( Pigment will look more solid than like hair strokes and may not last as long)

  • Someone who works out daily and sweats a lot.

  • Diabetes type 1 or 2 ( Prone to slow healing and infection, colour may or may not retain well)

  • Have Thyroid/graves disease ( Medication may cause pigment to not retain properly)

If you are pregnant or nursing - no service, no exceptions! You cannot have this treatment done if you are pregnant or breast-feeding due to the numbing and possible stress during the procedure or breast feeding. It is your responsibility to inform the technician PRIOR to starting the procedure if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

IMPORTANT! Sometimes retention with the above contraindications is still possible. Everyone's skin is different and retains different. Colour retention is very different as well. This is an ART not a science. No specific results can be guaranteed.

** Please note.... even if none of the above apply Microblading cannot be guaranteed as this is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure, I can give you amazing brows but it is up to your skin to retain my service! Generally results are amazing however they do differ due to skin types, healing or bleeding during procedure. IF YOU SHOW UP TO YOUR SCHEDULED SESSION AND DECIDE NOT TO PROCEED BECAUSE ONE OF MORE OF THESE LISTED ABOVE IS PRESENT AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO PROCEED, YOUR DEPOSIT IS STILL NON-REFUNDABLE AND YOU WILL BE CHARGED A LATE CANCELLATION FEE.

WILL I STILL HAVE TO WAX OR PLUCK NEW GROWTH?

Yes. While I cannot control your new growth coming back, I have now given you an amazing new template to make your maintenance much easier!

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

It is a semi-permanent amazing brow procedure that lasts about a year! (4 to 10 weeks touch- is needed) Semi-Permanent make up is an ART not a science. Client results will vary. Even though it is effective and lasts up to a year in most cases, no guarantee can be made that a specific client will benefit from the procedure. Everyone's skin is different, it is very important that each client understands that I can create perfect, gorgeous brows but ultimately it is up to your skin to retain my semi-permanent cosmetic service. Generally the results are amazing but it very much depends on your own skin type, texture and oiliness. Semi-permanent heals about 30% to 40% lighter. This is a very natural corrective service.

Full Lip Colour

Asymmetry is very common in Lips and can be corrected by using permanent makeup to help create a more balanced appearance to the face. Cosmetic permanent makeup is a perfect way to transform thin or uneven lips or lips that have lost fullness and shape with age and in need of volume restoration. A colour is selected from the range of fabulous shades to either blend with your natural lip. In our youth lips are soft, full and have a great natural tone. As the ageing process begins we start to lose the shape, contour, fullness and colour of our lips. Permanent makeup will enhance your current lip shape and shade. It can also visually increase the size of lips and adjust the shape.

Ombre Shading is a Soft powder/ pencil look for the eyebrows. Soft at the front with more colour and definition at the ends.

This procedure is perfect for

  • people with little or no real hair,

  • when brows are patchy,

  • when a client wants bolder brows,

  • when a client wants to get the most out of the first appointment,

  • when a client had previous permanent brows before

Combination Brows (Microblading and Ombre Shading) is a delicate, soft and natural at the front and more colour and definition toward the middle and the end of the brows. Best of both in one! You will have hair stokes and then soft, lighter shading in between the strokes!

Microblading is a technique where I create natural hair strokes, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent. Microblading is a form of tattoo artistry where the pigment is implanted under your skin with a manual handheld tool instead of a machine. Microblading typically lasts 18 months, depending on skin type and skincare routine.

The semi-permanent procedure requires two sessions to ensure perfect pigmentation. Generally, the results are amazing but it depends on your own skin type, lifestyle, medication, natural skin undertones, immune system, poor diet, sun/ sunbeds, chemical peels, hormone changes. And also depends on how you followed aftercare.

The pigment is semi-permanent and will fade over time. However please note again that everyone's skin is different and will experience different results with this semi-permanent procedure when it comes to retention.

Also, lighter colours will fade quicker than darker colours.

Therefore annual retouch sessions are important to refresh the colour.
